Gorillacam – iPhone App Review
Gorillacam (Free) Version – 1.1 REVIEW – “Add some extra functions to your iPhone’s camera with this free app!” There have been a lot of cheap camera apps released in the $1-5 range that can add a lot of functionality that Apple’s default camera app just doesn’t have. With that said, Gorillacam has a lot of the features that you’ll see in those paid apps and it’s free! While obviously this is a marketing plow to get publicity for their “Gorillapod” camera stands they’re not hurting my feelings be giving away this extremely useful iPhone app! When you open Gorillacam you’ll see an interface similar to the default iPhone camera app just with different buttons available. On the left side of the screen there is a slider that controls the digital zoom. Obviously since the iPhone does not have a zoom lens the zoom pretty much just crops the picture to the area that you want, but it is easy to use and is better than not having the option for zoom. In the bottom left corner there is a button with all of the specific settings that are available in this app. There are toggle switches for all kinds of features to help you take better pictures and also to automate taking pictures. At the very bottom there is a “Settings” button that will open up a screen with a few basic options. You can set the image size for when you save them to your phone and even set a different size for when you choose to email photos! You can also turn the digital zoom slider on or off and/or move its location on the screen. So what features does this app add to your camera? Well for starters it has a “Self-timer.” What this means is that you can set a delay after you touch the button for the app to take a picture. This makes it possible to take group pictures without a cameraman! A couple of other great feature of this app are the “Anti-shake,” and “Bubble Level.” These two options will help you keep your pictures from blurring due to motion and also help you make sure you’re pictures are level

Full StoryCupid at Work – iPhone App Review
Cupid at Work ($0.99) Version – 1.1 REVIEW – “A great game for Valentines Day!” If you’ve scouring the AppStore looking for a quick diversion Dot Next has recently released a game for the Valentine’s Day holiday! Cupid at work puts you in control of Cupid’s bow making couples. While it may sound kind of dumb, I was pleasantly surprised at how much fun this game really is! When you open Cupid at Work you are taken to the main menu. There are two different modes of play: “Classic Game,” and “Extreme Game.” In the classic game there is not a time limit for each shot, while the extreme game adds a timer for every shot as well as a few other minor tweaks to make the game more tense.
Full StoryaddLib – iPhone App Review
addLib ($1.99) Version – 1.0.1 REVIEW – “Amazing photo design without hours at the computer!” This app, if nothing else, is at the very least one of the most interesting apps I have ever reviewed. The basic idea of addLib is that it will take any photo from your library, or one directly from the iPhone’s camera and place it inside a modern looking design. I’ll have to admit that I was definitely skeptical of this app, I mean how good can a computer do photo editing on its own? With that said this app was definitely a pleasant surprise! When you open up this app you are greeted with a blank screen and a menu bar at the bottom of the screen. At the top of the screen you’ll notice several small dots that look a lot like the dots below your device’s home screen. If you swipe left or right you will move between several different screens. The far left screen has a login for your twitter account that will allow you to post pictures directly via twitpic! The way the app works is extremely simple. All you have to do is choose your photo by touching the button in the lower left corner. You can either select a photo from your library or take a new picture with your camera. Once you have a photo selected the app will automatically create three photo layouts. You can either select one of these three layouts and save them or you can create more by touching the “create” button” in the middle.
Full StoryRandomPlay – iPhone App Review
RandomPlay ($0.99) Version – 1.0 REVIEW – “Discover music you didn’t know you had with this app!” If you’re like me you’ve probably accumulated a lot of music over the years. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a fun tool to navigate through it and discover music that you haven’t listened to in a long time? Well thanks to Chilli X and their new iPhone app RandomPlay, doing just this has never been easier! When you open RandomPlay you will see 12 different album covers and the first random song that was selected will start playing. To find out what songs the app has randomly selected all you have to do is touch and hold on one of the album covers. A little box pops up that tells you the name of the artist and the name of the song. Switching between songs is as easy as touching the cover of the song you wish to listen to. You can also pause by touching the song you are currently listening to. Once you are either tired of the current set of 12 songs or you have listened to them all you can get a new list of songs by shaking your device. This makes it easy to browse through a lot of random songs very quickly! If you would like to create a list of 12 songs that you are interested in the best way to do that is to double tap tracks to replace them with new ones. This will allow you to create a custom list of 12 tracks that you are interested in. I’ll have to admit that I was a little bit skeptical of this app, but the more I played with it the more I appreciated the visual nature of this app. It really does help you to rediscover your own music library! For a first release this app is very solid, but as with any new app there is room for improvement. I found myself missing all of the playback controls of the iPod app such as volume control and seek. While you still have the volume buttons on the side of your device it would have been nice to see features like these implemented within the app either through gestures such as swiping and/or a separate “controls” screen.

Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies ($9.99) Version – 1.1.0 REVIEW – “An amazing port of an intense first person shooter!” For any veteran of console first person shooters the Call of Duty series is hard to ignore. One of my favorite gameplay modes of all time in Call of Duty was the “Nazi Zombies” mode that was added as an extra to Call of Duty World at War! Needless to say my jaw dropped as I drooled over the prospect of a direct port of that mode to the iPhone/iPod Touch platform. If you have thought about downloading this game in the past but have not because of the price, you really need to download the “Lite” version that they have just released and check it out! The graphics of this game just blew me away. From the opening splash movie directly from the console version, to all of the details on the weapons, zombies and environment! What is really impressive is all of the stuff that is going on at the same time and yet the frame rate always manages to stay steady. The sound effects and music are also top notch and definitely add to the experience as they do in the console version of the game. What really sets this game above other games of this genre though is the replay factor. I don’t even know how many hours I spent playing this game on my Xbox 360 but I know that experience that you get with this game is every bit as addicting. And, true to the console versions, this game also supports multiplayer with up to 4 people total over WiFi! When playing afirst person game like this the control scheme(s) is going to be extremely important! Thankfully the developer included three different control schemes, and plenty of customization for each of them! I tried each of the three configurations and I liked the traditional “dual stick” scheme. The Accelerometer is a creative way to work controls but I found it to be a little frustrating. Honestly if you practiced with it though it would probably be the most effective scheme once you mastered it
Full StoryDark Nebula – iPhone App Review
Dark Nebula (Free) Version – 1.1 REVIEW – “A simple concept taken a step further!” Most people are familiar with this type of game. The basic object is to tilt your device to move your ball from one side of the map to the other. This game goes way beyond traditional “Labyrinth” games by adding all kinds of obstacles and having huge maps! Dark Nebula is probably one of the more fun iPhone apps I’ve played in a while and best of all it’s free for a limited time only! One of the things that impressed me the most were the graphics of this game. From the opening menu to the in-game animations everything looks sharp and really adds to the feel of the game. When you open up Dark Nebula you are taken to the main menu. From here you can setup your game, check the global/local leaderborads, start a new game or continue where you left off last. The options menu allows you to set several options for in game such as whether the sound effects are on or off, the difficulty, and there are also detailed calibration controls if you seem to be having trouble changing direction quickly. It also has a few other options, such as the ability to connect with your Facebook account to let your friends know how you’re doing, and whether or not to post your high scores to the global high score list automatically. Once everything is set up how you want it then it’s time to get started! The first level is very easy and introduces you to basic concepts. As you play through the game there are lots of little capsules to grab, as well as a few big ones. Grabbing a big capsule gives you an extra life while grabbing 100 of the little ones will also give you an extra life.
