Pew Pew Land – iPhone App Review
Pew Pew Land ($0.99) Version – 1.50 Review – “Fast paced fun for all ages!” There have been tons of tower defense games released into the App Store. It just really is a genre of gaming that fits wonderfully into a touch screen format! Pew Pew Land is not just another generic game though, it has it’s own unique style! It uses both cartoony graphics and an extremely easy control scheme to appeal to all ages! When you open up Pew Pew Land you’re immediately transported to a new world. The music and graphics are very well done, and very much add to the cartoony feel of this app.

Bio Army ($1.99) Version – 1.0 Review – “Extremely addicting tower defense game!” If you enjoy fast-paced games of strategy, there’s a good chance that Bio Army will quickly become one of you favorite apps ! From the well polished cartoon graphic, to the variety of enemies, maps and weapons, this tower defense has everything it needs to keep you glued to your iDevice playing for hours! Just in case you’re not already familiar with tower defense games. The basic concept is that you will be trying to stop “waves” of enemies from reaching their goal, which in this case is your fort. The way you stop the enemies is by placing mercenaries around the path that they take to your fort.

The basic idea is that you want to whack the various creatures that pop their heads out of the holes, but you don’t want to hit any of the cats! Once you finish the tutorial you’ll start right into your first game. As you continue to play you’ll find that occasionally there will be a whole bunch of animals that pop up at once.

Full StoryPac-Sam – iPhone App Review
Pac-Sam (Free) Version – 1.2 REVIEW – “A new angle on a familiar game type!” This is an app that I definitely have to file under the “unique concept” category. Pac-Sam, as you might expect has some similarities to the Pac-Man games of old. The object is to grab dots and items while avoiding ghosts as well as some additional objects added into this game like rocks. Unlike Pac-Man; however, you are not placed inside a maze, but instead are flying through the sky as everything comes at you from the top of the screen! When you open up Pac-Sam you are given five different options to play the game: Easy, Normal, Hard, Expert and “Accelerometer.” You’ll also find a brief description of how to play the game and some information about the developer by touching the small “i” button in the upper right corner. The “Accelerometer” mode seems to be its own unique difficulty which I thought was a little bit odd. It would be nice to be able to select whether or not to use the accelerometer on any difficulty setting that you want. With that said, using the accelerometer seems to make the game a little more difficult so I don’t think anyone would play with it enabled if it was just an option. The game is played at a extremely fast pace. Once you start your game, if you are not in “Accelerometer” mode you control your character by touching and dragging him around the screen. The difficulty setting makes a huge difference in how quickly the game gets started. On “Easy” you’ll get a little while to kind of get used to the different techniques used to avoid dying, while the “Expert” mode will throw you right in the middle of the action! There is a nice global high score list so that you can compare your scores to everyone i9n the world. The only thing I didn’t like about it is not integrated into the app. In order to add your score to the list, or to view scores you actually have to leave the app and use Safari. While this is not a huge deal, if you are working hard to try and beat everyone else’s high score it’s a little annoying to have to leave the app to find out how you’re doing! The gameplay itself is pretty fun, although I found myself getting cornered very quickly if I didn’t pay close attention to what was going on! As you play you’ll find several different kinds of items and power-ups. There are the standard power pellets that turn the opposing ghosts blue so that you can eat them up. There are also icons that you can pick up that will make you invincible for a few seconds, allow you to fire boomerangs or guns at your opponents or even make your ship big and powerful, or small so it can squeeze through those little cracks
Full StoryPuzzle Prism – iPhone App Review
Puzzle Prism ($2.99) Version – 1.2.0 REVIEW – “Addicting 3D puzzle game along the lines of Tetris” If you enjoy puzzle games like Tetris and Bejeweled you will love Puzzle Prism. The basic idea is that you have to keep a stack of blocks from piling up too high as they slowly rise from below. The stack of blocks moves in a square pattern of four blocks and the only way to make it go back down is to fill rows entirely to make them disappear! The graphics and sound in this app are simple, but not so simple that they take away from the gameplay itself. The main menu has a kind of “futuristic” look to it and is very simple. I really liked the fact that you can access all of the games settings and modes with just one touch from the main menu.
Full StoryG700-1st Soft Camera – iPhone App Review
G700-1 st Soft Camera ($1.99) Version – 2.9.1 REVIEW – “A camera that works more like the real thing” I have used a variety of different apps that are designed to help you take better photos with your iPhone. G700-1 st Soft Camera by Shiningworks Co. has taken an entirely new angle from the ones I have tried before. Instead of trying to come up with a unique interface, or one that is similar to the built in camera app, this app has been designed to work more like a real digital camera! The load time of the G700 is very quick, and once it is started up you’ll be presented with what looks like a camera from the backside. There are a variety of different options and settings, as well as a button to take pictures around the outside of the “screen” in the center. By default the app opens up ready to take a picture, and taking a picture is as simple as pushing the large round camera button on the right side of the screen. On the left side of the screen there are four small buttons that allow to apply various filters to pictures as you take them. The “flash” feature, while obviously not as effective as a real flash, allows you to add some brightness and contrast to pictures which will allow you to take much better pictures in low light conditions. This combined with the “Anti-Shake” feature does a surprisingly good job of improving pictures in situations where lighting is slightly inadequate.
